A chance meeting with Rob Ward of Beverley Productions Ltd in Tauranga, New Zealand, set the wheels in motion for the creation of “WindSheer™ International”. Fred Jeanes saw the potential to create a garment suitable for the commercial fishing industry. Features in the design being warmth, hardwearing and practicality. A style the fishermen could call their own. The prototype, Force 6 (the name coming from the Beaufort wind scale), was made and given to Willie Walker, a local long line fisherman to “hammer it hard” whilst fishing off the notorious East Cape of New Zealand. Listening to Willie on his return, the garment was modified subtly in some areas. Willie once again took the Force 6 and gave it ‘death’ on the high seas. On his return Willie was full of high praise, it had proved so practical and warm. If you want to understand how a lion hunts, don’t go to the zoo. Go to the jungle — Kevin Roberts (Saatchi & Saatchi) The Force 6 is now known for it’s quality and longevity, warmth and its practicality.

The WindSheer™ logo is unique. The clouds feature strongly at the top and bottom. On close inspection they are going in opposite directions. This is known as “windsheer”. The market has now expanded into the rural farming sector, aquaculture industry, tradespeople and contractors, farriers and a strong following from recreational fisherman. The range of WindSheer™ garments has increased with Born to be Worn® styles incorporating working length to full length sleeves, single, double and triple layers in individual garments with other defining features unique to WindSheer™.
WindSheer™ has been building from the ground up, since 1992, connecting with people one on one. It is a brand you can trust. |
